Anderson is the one who starts the events of Mass Effect, and in this scenario he ends them too.įirstly I have to say it: It isn't a theory if it has been disproved, a more accurate name would be "Indoctrination Fanfic". The Alliance will likely find you and everything will be hunky dory as everything is rebuilt. But he managed to fight off Indoctrination and live. Shepard fulfilled his/her role by uniting the galaxy before ultimately stumbling right before the finish line. So what happened? Anderson activated the Crucible as it was intended to work and defeated the Reapers cause Anderson is a fucking badass and before Shepard was pegged as the first Human Specter.
Hackett now says, Anderson actually made it to the beam. So what happened? Well, gathering all those War Points had to count for something, right? And in the Extended Cut DLC I'm pretty sure instead of mentioning "No one made it to the beam" which confused us all initially when Anderson showed up on the Citadel with Shepard. If you have enough War Credits or whatever its called (long time since I played ME3) and pick Destroy you get the ONLY ending that offers you an "After Credits" scene so to speak. Which really is the best explanation for a Reaper beam that incinerates fucking giant starships not vaporizing Shepard in the first place. If you're an IT theory subscriber than this is the point where everything happening is going inside Shepard's mind. My favorite interpretation of Indoctornation Theory's end is by u/neutronknows who shared the following headcannon over a year ago:Īfter Harbinger's beam Shepard is left lying on Earth. One of the biggest arguments people use against IT is that the series no longer has an ending, because Shepard waking up in the rubble of London leaves so much unexplained.
